Sprayground

One of the City’s most sought after destinations is the Sprayground located in Hurricane City Park. The play park is perfect during the summer season for kids of all ages to enjoy. There are several fixtures that water pours, splashes, and sprays from to keep kids cool and entertained for hours. The state-of-the-art splash park features shaded seating areas and a concession stand. Admission is $3 per person, or free for Putnam County residents (must show identification). City Park

Hurricane City Park was established in the 1970’s and features picnic areas, playgrounds, athletic fields, and areas for baseball, basketball, softball, walking, or jogging. The popular splash park—Hurricane Sprayground, is also located in City Park. The Hurricane Reservoir is located directly beside the park where fishing is available from the handicapped-accessible fishing pier. The walking/jogging trail runs along the parameter of the park and offers scenic views of the City’s Reservoir, forestry, and loops through the many different playground areas. City Park features advanced playground equipment for kids of all ages. The park also has incredible features like the GameTime Expressions swing (featured picture), a swing for wheelchair-bound persons, GameTime Zero-G swings for kids that may need extra support, and more. The park has multiple shelters available for private parties, gatherings, birthday celebrations, and more. The shelters rent for $50 for the entire day, and are equipped with electricity and water. Main Street

Main Street in Hurricane is a vibrant downtown with lots of local shops to frequent. Everything can be found from live music and family game nights to fresh, pour-over style coffee and sweet treats. Shopping leads to great finds on apparel, specialty brand items and unbeatable custom products. Many events take place on Main Street throughout the year. There’s plenty to see and do in Hurricane's Main Street District.

Arts/Culture

Hurricane has many avenues for the arts and culture. Featured throughout town are hand-painted murals that depict the City’s history, events that highlight different tastes in food and art, and local studios and stores that showcase local artisan works. A variety of music events and shows can be found at various venues or close by in neighboring communities.

Caboose

Situated in Hurricane City Park, the Caboose Museum is an actual C&O Railcar that is open to the public. The Caboose is filled with railroad memorabilia and artifacts that depict the City’s railroad history. The Caboose was formerly located behind the Fire Department on Main Street before being relocated to City Park in 2016. Valley Park

Valley Park & Waves of Fun is Hurricane’s largest park and outdoor waterpark. Valley Park features walking trails, multipurpose athletic fields and courts, shelters, a dog park, two ponds, and the Waves of Fun Waterpark. At Waves of Fun, everything from spiraling waterslides and beach-like waves will keep people of all ages amused for hours.
