The Hurricane Police Department has fourteen officers to serve the community. The public safety program includes two on duty patrol units during the day and two or three officers on duty of the evening and midnight shifts, patrolling highways and neighborhoods. Response time to 911 for a Hurricane call ranges from two to five minutes.

The Hurricane Police Department has two officers who are trained dog handlers and have K-9 companions that are available to work drug/bomb case investigation and make visits to schools for drug monitoring. The officer is available to talk to groups about the training and responsibilities and HPD.
